FAQ
On this page you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions. To whom does the Amsterdam UMC policy for business trips apply?
The policy applies to all employees employed by Amsterdam UMC. Also for employees who pay for travel from their job-related cost budget.
When will this policy be implemented?
The new business travel policy will come into effect on 1 September 2023
Why has the policy for business travel been changed?
Amsterdam UMC wants to be climate neutral by 2050. To achieve this, we must also make our travel behavior more sustainable.
I have already booked a flight for this year before September 1, 2023 to a destination with a travel time of up to 8 hours. Do I have to rebook to a train journey?
Trips booked before September 2023 do not need to be rebooked.
Will my extended travel time be regarded as working time?
The agreements about travel time and working hours remain unchanged: you coordinate this with your manager. This does not depend on your mode of transport, but on the purpose of your trip. If you make a business trip for work (so no commuting), this is usually seen as working time.
Can I still fly to distant destinations?
For destinations with a travel time longer than 8 hours, you may travel by plane. The class in which you may fly depends on the flight time and is always discussed with the manager.
What else is Amsterdam UMC doing to become climate neutral?
K2 contains Amsterdam UMC's sustainability policy for 2023-2027, containing all sustainability objectives.
Who can I contact with questions about this policy?
If you have any questions about this policy, please contact the HR Department at HR services.
Make a report in the Service Portal (you can see the progress of your report in the portal).
How do I book my trip?
A business trip must be booked through the travel agency contracted by Amsterdam UMC. It is important to book your trip with the travel agency associated with the location where the costs should be invoiced.
- If the costs should be charged to a cost center at the AMC location, you should book the business trip through STI via the portal and/or amsterdamumc@schipholtravel.com.
- If the costs should be charged to a purchase order number or cost center at the VUmc location, you should book the business trip through GDG Travel: amsterdam@gdgtravel.nl
The travel agency will book the correct tickets for you and invoice Amsterdam UMC directly, so you do not need to submit these costs for reimbursement.
If you encounter an emergency before or during your trip, please contact the travel agency as well. They are always available for emergencies. Do not book replacement tickets on your own.
